Mrs. Helene R.Peggy England, 85, died Saturday morning at Mercy Hospital in Independence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church the Father Jerome Spexarth, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel.. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The family will receive friends following the Rosary from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorial remembrances to the Alzheimers Foundation and remembrances will be received at the funeral home. Helene Renee England was born February 18, 1923 at Evansville, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas A. Bartle and Iris Beatrice Dodge Bartle. The family moved to Coffeyville where Mrs. England attended Coffeyville Schools and graduated from Coffeyville High School in 1941. She also attended Nurses Training at Mercy Hospital in Independence. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar Society, CYO, and Faith and Light. She was also an avid booster of Coffeyville College Athletics. She was active several years with the Boy Scouts of American and Campfire Girls. On June 27, 1942 in Coffeyville, she was united in marriage to Grant Elwood England. Mr. England preceded his wife in death on March 16, 1995. Survivors include: two sons, CharlesChuck England of Independence and Michael England of Canon City, Colorado; a daughter, Katherine Spears of Coffeyville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas A. Bartle of Sylacoga, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Charles, her sister Beatrice Ann, and a son Tony.
