Herold Kahre

Herold W. Kahre, 93, of Coffeyville, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2010.He was born in Weir, Kansas on August 23, 1916 to William Kahre and Anna Bardenhagen Kahre. The family moved to Coffeyville. Herold married Lora Clark June 2, 1937 and the couple spent 49 loving years together in Wann, Oklahoma until Loras death in 1986. He was active in farming and the Wann community serving for years on the school board, Lions Club and Community Center and the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was in fact the churchs oldest member and had served as a Sunday school teacher, an elder, a trustee, and head usher. He had served as president of the local AAL branch for many years. Herold married Wilma Wolters October 10, 1987 and she has been by his side and a wonderful wife to him for the past 22 years. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight sisters and brothers. Survivors include son Wayne Kahre and wife Glenda of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, daughter Wanda Sommer and husband Tom of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren, two step daughters Beverly Fowler of Wichita, Kansas and Nancy Miller of Ozark, Arkansas and four stepgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials to St. Pauls Lutheran Church of Coffeyville. Funeral services for Herold W. Kahre will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Coffeyville at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Mr. Kahre will lie in state at PenwellGabel Funeral Home in Coffeyville on Tuesday, March 9 from 1:00PM until 8:00PM.
