Ida Mae Blackmer, 84, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 26, 2012. She was born Ida Mae Gillis in Coffeyville on April 28, 1928. Her parents were Earl M. and Ida Mae Tucker Gillis. She was raised in Coffeyville. She attended McKinley Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1945. She was employed by J.J. Newberry from August 1945 to March 1946. She married Charley C. Long Jr. on March 30, 1946 in Independence Kansas. They lived in Coffeyville until January of 1950 at which time they moved to Osawatomie where Charley was transferred to by the Missouri Pacific Railroad. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and secretary to the CAs Christ Ambassadors. She was self Employed. She did laundry in her home. On Saturday night, she and the girls would go roller skating. Sometimes they were all dressed alike. Her and Charley returned to Coffeyville in 1961. They were divorced in 1964. She was employed By Linns Drive Inn from 1970 to 1972. Later in 1972, she was employed by the AW Root Beer Drive Inn, where she worked until 1980. She married Virgil L. Blackmer of Bartlesville, Oklahoma on August 16, 1980 in Coffeyville at the United Methodist Church. They Lived in Coffeyville until December 1980. At that time, they moved to Bartlesville where Mr. Blackmer was employed by National Zinc. She was employed by Philips Cafeteria from 1982 to 1988. She started work in Child Care for the YMCA in September 1993 to July 2000. She returned to Coffeyville on January 28, 2001 to the Windsor Nursing Home. Then, on August 15, 2001, she moved to the Windsor Assisted Living on West Eighth Street. She loved ceramic painting. She started in 2002. She took classes at B.G. Edwards Ceramic Shop in 2004. She entered some pieces at the fair and won 1st, 2Nd, and 3rd place ribbons. She enjoyed country western songs. Her favorite singer was Becky Hobbs, whom she had visited personally. She is survived by three children: Alice and Ray Maggard, rural Coffeyville, Jane Long, Tulsa, and Stanley Long. Greenville, Texas five grandchildren, Bobby Maggard, Iowa Park, Texas, Michael Twila Lundy, Wann, Oklahoma, Melissa Justin Thomas, Coweta, Oklahoma, Jeffrey and Lauren Long, Atlanta, Georgia, and Lilly Long, North Zulch, Texas Five great grandchildren, Brittani Maggard, Spring, Texas, Justin Rebecca Lundy, Wann, Oklahoma, and Ashley Lewis and Hanna Thomas, Coweta, Oklahoma one brother, Willis and Edna Gillis, Sun City, Arizona and one sister, Elizabeth Johnson, Dearing. She was preceded in death by her parents both husbands two brotherinlaws and her beloved cat,Baby. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at the Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be at PenwellGabel, FordWulfBruns Chapel, on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family will receive gusts from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
