Idris Ellen Mayfield Idris Ellen Mayfield, 86, of Steelville, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at University of Missouri Center in Columbia, Missouri. She was born October 26, 1920 in Osawatomie, Kansas, the daughter of George and Mary Mulholland Casida. Idris was united in marriage to Roy Mayfield on July 22, 1943 in Biloxi, Mississippi and to this union three daughters were born. After 52 years of marriage Roy preceded her in death in August of1995. Those left to mourn her passing are three daughters, Debra Helms and husband Phillip of Steelville, Missouri, Royce Struble and husband Ron of Culver City, Kansas, and Rebecca Maycumber of Olathe, Kansas, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one sister Wanda Jeter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Idris was a graduate of Osawatomie High School in 1938 and attended junior college at Coffeyville, Kansas. She had helped manage the little league ballpark in the early 1960s, and was past president of PTA at Garfield while her daughters were in elementary school. She had taught Sunday school classes at First Baptist Church in the 1950s, she has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Coffeyville since she was 18. She loved to bowl and had attended national tournaments for almost 20 years. She loved to quilt, read, and playing bridge and cards. She had worked at Kresss, Fraxie Firestone, and Sears and had managed the Value Dress Shop. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, April 6, from 6 to 9 pm. in the Penwell-Gabel Ford- Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Graveside services will Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 10:00a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Rev. Wayne Norton officiating.
