Imogene Lafon 1921-2004 Imogene Lafon, age 83, of rural Wann, Oklahoma resident passed away on December 6, 2004 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born November 3, 1921 in Wann, Oklahoma to RaymondShug and Gertie M. Fitzsimmons Howard. She attended Oakdale Elementary School in rural Wann, Oklahoma as a child. She then attended Wann High School, Wann, Oklahoma. On November 24, 1939 she married Frank M. Lafon in Nowata, Oklahoma. They established their first home north of Dearing, Kansas. Frank preceded her in death April 10, 1970. She was a homemaker. She later worked for the Oakdale School and Wann School systems. She also worked for Phillips Petroleum Company of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Wann Baptist Church. She joined the Order of Eastern Star 475 of Copan, Oklahoma on February of 1976. She was three time past Worthy Matron. She joined the Sunrise Chapter 22 of Nowata, Oklahoma. She received her 25 year pin in 1996. She also belonged to the Wann Senior Citizens Group since the beginning of the organization, where she served as secretarytreasurer. She also served on the Nowata County Election Board. Her hobbies included playing cards, dominoes, bingo and most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by one son, Frank Sonny Lafon, Jr., wife Chiquita, South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; Phyllis Pierce and husband Ted of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Reta Cookie Waltrip and her late husband Billy Waltrip of Coffeyville, Kansas; Connie Covey and husband Roger of Nowata, Oklahoma; Cindy Sue Lafon of the home in Wann, Oklahoma; 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, 1 step-granddaughter, 3 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson and 2 step-great grandsons; one nephew, Ricky Ferguson of Coffeyville, Kansas; Cousins and many close friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Sondra Darlene Lafon, two sisters, Helen Howard and Darlene Frankie Ferguson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Graves Chapel, 1117 W. 8th Street, Coffeyville, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2004, at the Wann Baptist Church, Wann, Oklahoma. Reverend James Rawls of the Wann Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery of Coffeyville, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wann Baptist Church or the Wann Fire Department co Penwell-Gabel, Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel, Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home.
