Irene Isabelle Lassen, 83, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at CRMC.
Irene was born on October 22, 1931 in Oswego, Kansas to Samuel and Susie Ann (Stice) Smith. She grew up in Oswego where she attended a local school. Irene worked as a waitress at a local restaurant in Oswego. When she moved to Coffeyville she was a waitress at Reta's Café and at The Pig Stand for many years until her retirement. She was united in marriage to Jess Cooper, the couple later divorced.
Irene loved dancing, singing and fishing. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and nieces and nephews. When she was younger she attended church at the Assembly of God in Oswego.
Surviving to honor her memory are her sister, Naomi Hoggatt of Coffeyville, Kansas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Susie Ann and by her sisters, Ellen Puckett, Ruth Redman, Blanche Reed, Mary Lopp, Bertha Clevenger, Esther Box, Maves Ross and Lula Mayfield.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery east of Coffeyville. Pastor Mark Wilson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends that evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to the Age to Age Learning at Windsor Place; these may also be left with the funeral home.
