Irene Lewis

Irene E. Lewis 1914 - 2005 Irene E. Lewis, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Windsor Place Nursing Home, Coffeyville, Kansas. She was born on September 12, 1914 to Benjamin F. McKay and Ada Rudd McKay in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She graduated from Ponca City High School, Ponca City, Oklahoma. Irene married Lawrence V. ONeill in 1933. He preceded her in death 1940. She later married Alfred L. Lewis in 1952 and they made their home in Coffeyville. He preceded her in death March 19, 1988. She then moved back to Independence, Kansas. Mrs. Lewis had previously worked for Prairie Oil, Indy Air Base and later was co-owner of Santa Fe Sundries with her husband Alfred. Memberships include: Order of Eastern Star 132, Past Worthy Matron, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Past High Priestess. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Coffeyville, Ks.; She also was past president of Social Order of Beauceant, Past President of Coffeyville Stamp Club amp; Daughters of Nile. Survivors include: Mrs. Chester Worl Peggy, Independence, Ks.; Two brothers, John McKay, Irving, Texas; Don McKay, Ponca City, Ok.; Two sisters, Jean Groom and Sylvia Norton both of Tulsa, Ok. 3 granddaughters, Debbie Coy, Independence, Ks.; Kathy Klanecky, Irving, Tx.; Angela Hance, Creston, Iowa; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. Calling hoursVisitation will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Riverside Park of Independence, Kansas.
