Irene Ward

Irene Eleanor Ward, age 74 of Coffeyville passed away on June 23, 2016 at Windsor Place.

Irene was born in Coffeyville on December 23, 1941 to George Emery and Pauline (Beck) Holmes one of eight children. She attended school in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School. Irene worked for Page Milk and Funk Manufacturing as an office administrator. She was united in marriage to Gerald Ward who preceded her in death in 2003.

Irene enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, fishing, and taking her nieces shopping, she always took them out for their birthdays as well. She was a very sweet person that everybody loved.

Survivors blessed by her memory are her sister Ruth Cease, brothers, Buddy Holmes of Topeka, Derrald Holmes his wife Judy of Broken Arrow, sister-in-law Luella Holmes of Coffeyville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald, brothers, Richard, Roland, and Gerald, and a sister, Dorothy Bartholomew.

Funeral services honoring her life will be held on Tuesday June 28, 2016 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor David Kim of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Veterans Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery. Friends are invited to share memories with the family and sign the register on Monday June 27, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to the VFW Post 1022 and they may be left in care of the Chapel.
