Isabel Manning, 82, of Coffeyville, KS, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Continuous Care Center of Bartlesville, OK. Isabel was born on Dec. 26, 1925 in Watervalley, TN, the daughter of Rev. Fred C. and Martha Ann Gardner Bain. She attended schools and graduated in Erin, TN. After graduation, Isabel studied Theology at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN where she met her husband of 61 years. She and Ralph were united in marriage by the brides father on Dec. 20, 1946 in Erin. Together they made their home in Nashville, TN, Independence, KS, and moved to Coffeyville, KS in 1958. Since 1965, Isabel has been a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Coffeyville, KS. She served various positions within the church and was a Caravan Director for 3 years and a Caravan Worker for another 2 years. She and Ralph traveled to Newark, NJ, New York City, NY, Albuquerque, NM, and Fort Worth, TX on Work and Witness Teams for their church as well as fulfilling a lifelong dream of traveling to the Holy Land. Isabel enjoyed spending time with her family playing board games, painting ceramics and other craftwork, gardening, canning, cooking and was a talented seamstress. Surviving to honor her memory: her husband, Ralph of the home, her daughters, Rev. Vivian J. Versaw and husband, Robert of Greers Ferry, AR, and JoyAnn M. Manning of Coffeyville, KS; grandchildren, Larry Versaw and wife, Heidi, Michelle Neel, Rev. John Versaw and wife, Rachel, and Christina Stewart and husband, Scott; and great-grandchildren, Jarred Versaw, Miranda Versaw, Justin Neel, and Isaiah Manning Versaw and the arrival of one great-grandchild expected in December. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Daniel, Roy, Robert, and Vivian Bain and one granddaughter, Cheryl Lynn Versaw. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at First Church of the Nazarene of Coffeyville, KS. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, KS. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions may be given to First Church of the Nazarene in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
