James Robert Bama Martin, age 61, of rural Tyro, Kansas died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Tyro Christian Church with the Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Burial will follow in the Fawn Creek Cemetery under the direction of the FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas.

The family has suggested memorials be made payable to the Tyro Christian Church Youth Group or Memorial Fruit or Nut Trees and contributions may be left at the FordWulfBruns Chapel or to Beth Martin. Friends may leave online condolences at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com

James Robert Bama Martin was born April 18, 1953 in Eutaw, Alabama to Richard Kirby and Lillian Patricia McMillan Martin. He grew up in Eutaw, Alabama and graduated from the Green County High School in 1970. Robert worked for a large farmer near Eutaw, Alabama and later for WW Manufacturing in Dodge City where he did the panel set ups for the National Rodeos. Robert also worked for Liberty National Life Insurance Company.

On October 30, 1976 Robert married Elizabeth Beth Sue Walls in Tyro, Kansas. The couple made their home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before moving to Eutaw, Alabama. IN 1979 the couple moved to rural Tyro, Kansas and Robert went to work for the Coffeyville Refinery where he was in the safety crew, fire brigade and management. Robert was a member of the Tyro Christian Church, NRA, past president of the local metal trades and a beloved Alabama Crimson Tide Fan.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Beth Martin of the home one son Robert Cory and wife Anne Marie Martin of Wisconsin, two daughters Misty Anna and husband Jacob Taylor of Iowa, Haley Christelle Martin and fiance Jacob Timmons of Lamar, Missouri brother Mack and wife Lola Martin of Columbus, Mississippi four sisters Marilyn Greenwood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tricia and husband Mike Herndon of Boaz, Alabama, Amy Martin and Rita Higginbotham both of Columbus, Mississippi seven grandchildren Paityn, Paxtyn, Thayden, and Taivyn Taylor, James Martin, Daniel Kirby Martin and Briley Timmons, and several nieces and nephews.
