James Mcgee

James C. McGee age 76, passed away on April 13, 2020 at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

James was born on April 2, 1944, to Charles Henry and Verna May (Weaver) McGee in Liberal, Kansas. While just a young tike he and his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they made their home. James attended his neighborhood grade school and graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa.

James was introduced to Patricia Ilene Gowen by his cousin that had married Patricia’s cousin. Patricia had an instant attraction to James because his hair style resembled her favorite member of the Beatles, Ringo Star. James kept the hairstyle over the years just for Patricia. On June 21, 1964, they were united in marriage. The couple made their home in Coffeyville and created a lifetime of wonderful memories. James and Patricia were blessed with two daughters, Lori Ann and Sandra Kay. The couple were members of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church. Unfortunately, just after their 53rd Wedding anniversary Patricia preceded him in death on June 27, 2017.

James was employed by USD 445 and worked as a custodian at Roosevelt Junior High School and then moved over to Community Elementary just a few years prior to his retirement. James enjoyed his job and always thought the kids were the best part about going to work.

James enjoyed collecting stamps, coins and anything he considered worthy of being potentially useful. He loved to travel especially with his family. Family was everything to James, he cherished every moment spent with them. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa, he was a child a heart and enjoyed having fun with them. James has also cared for his mother-in-law Lenora Gowen with the help of his family since Patricia’s passing.

James is survived his daughters, Lori and her husband Rick Bryant of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Sandra and her husband Kelly Wintjen of Brooksville, Florida; brother, Ronnie McGee; sisters, Marsha and husband Wes Kennicutt, Debbie Boyer all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Lenora Gowen; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one great-grandchild.
