James Mcgehee

James L. McGehee, 95, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday evening, September 29, 2010 at CRMC. He was born February 16, 1915 in West Mineral, Kansas to John H. and Maud M. McCart McGehee. He grew up in and graduated school at Peru, Kansas. On March 29, 1933 he was united in marriage to AnnaElizabeth Gallaugher in Sedan, Kansas. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2003. Mr. McGehee worked as a farm hand in that area until 1937 when the couple moved to Coffeyville. He then worked at Sinclair Refinery and later at LudowiciCeladon Co. and Multiscope Inc., before forming his own business, Magic Circle, in 1951 in partnership with the late Larue Rosson and the late Jim Miller. He sold the business in 1972 and worked a short time as a tooling engineer at Funk Manufacturing Co., before retiring in 1977. James was a member of the Association of Mechanical Engineers for many years. He was a member of: a local riding club, camping club, Masonic Lodge and of several square dance clubs. He enjoyed dancing up to the age of 85. He has been a member of the Dearing Christian Church for many years. He is survived by his children, Jim D. and wife Maggie McGehee of Coffeyville, Shirley L. and husband, Mel Lepper of Weldona, Colorado, Sondra L. and huband, H. Dwayne Dean of Salado, Texas eight grandchildren fifteen greatgrandchildren and five greatgreatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maud his loving wife, Elizabeth and sisters, Hazel Scott, twins Thelma Kimbell and Velma Silvers and Ollie Lavell. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Pastor Jamie Regis will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Dearing Christian Church these may be left with the funeral home.
