James R. Templeton Sr., age 85, of Coffeyville, KS passed away December 16, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Neodesha, KS.
Jim Templeton was born on December 1, 1930 in Coffeyville to Roy and Lena (Roesky) Templeton. Jim was a lifetime resident of Coffeyville, attending and graduating from Field Kindley High School. He then received his Associates Degree from Coffeyville Community College. In 1948 Jim met Mariann Stumbaugh at a Boy Scout dance. Five years later the couple married on Thanksgiving Day at the Coffeyville First United Methodist Church. To this union the couple was blessed with three children. Jim was a member of the Carpenters Union and was skilled in the art of woodworking. Following his passion he established a custom woodworking business by the name of Templeton Woodworks and for 9 years was the carpentry instructor for the SEK Vo-Tech. James was a hard worker and he loved animals, but most of all he loved his family.
Left to honor his memory is his wife Mariann, sons; James R Templeton Jr. and wife Debbie, David E Templeton, and daughter Mary Hyatt and husband Randy, grandchildren; James R Templeton III, Joe Templeton, Jennifer Skaggs, Justin Templeton, Amber Henry, Megan Hyatt, Zac Hyatt, and Caelan Templeton, great-grandchildren;, Declan Smith, Seth Smith, Jaimz Templeton and Liam Templeton. James was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Adeline McCool.
A memorial service will be held on December 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Reverend Dr. James D. McNamara officiating. Friends are invited to sign the register on Monday December 21, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
