James LeeJim Thomas, 71, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, died Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2010 at Green Country Care Center of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim was born December 16, 1938 at Coffeyville. His parents were Albert Sauer and Ila Milford Sauer. He grew up there and received his education in the Coffeyville schools, graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1957. Upon graduation, Jim worked for the Page Milk Co. He married Janice Luker on March 9, 1958 and the couple made their home in Coffeyville. Jim went to work for the railroad, retiring from Union Pacific in 1987, as an inspector. After retirement, Jim enjoyed refurbishing cars fishing the Honey Creek Cove at Grand Lake and raising Pomeranians. He had been a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma since 2005. He is survived by a daughter, Lynda McIntyre of Tulsa one brother, Jerry Thomas and his wife, Janet of Coffeyvillle two sisters, Renee Ivy and her husband, Dean of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Jeannie Martin of Dodge City, Kansas and one granddaughter, Sara McIntyre of Tulsa. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Janice on July 6, 1998 and by a son, James RichardRick Thomas on December 30, 1995. Private family services were held Saturday, November 20. Jim was interred in Coffeyvilles Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel.
