James "Jim" Ward, age 82 of Coffeyville, Kansas was called home to his eternal resting place on May 29, 2016.
Jim was born on December 14, 1933 in Dewey, Ok to Fred and Anna Belle (Henshaw) Ward. It was here where he would attend school till 8th grade. Shortly after 8th grade Jim would began working to help with family finances. April 23, 1954 Jim entered into the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Ok and served his country during Korean War. It was during the war where Jim would be awarded with a Bronze Star, 2 Purple Hearts, as well as many other ribbons for acts of heroism during battle. August 06, 1954 he returned home and honorably discharged after he was shot in the top of the head during battle. After several surgeries and a metal plate in the top of head he would eventually make an almost full recovery although scared with the haunting memories of the war. Later Jim would go on to own several business, one of which he drove 18 wheelers loaded with all different types of freight all across the country. Jim also was an active member of the Masonic Grand Lodge Chickasha, Ok and then became active member of Masonic Grand Lodge in Rockport, TX serving many years as a brother. In 1996 he served as a 32nd Degree Grand Master. Jim was an active member of VFW and American Legions throughout Texas. To all that would know or come in contact with Jim loved to be around him, people that knew him would know that he loved Texas, fishing, country music, dancing, as well as wood working. Over the years had made many things with his hands from wood work to metal works for friends and family. He truly cherished people and when he did he would let you know. He was loved and respected and a sharp, well-dressed man and he will truly be missed.
Jim is proceeded in death by, his parents, son David Allen Ward, three brothers, and a sister. Jim is survived by his daughter Annette Clark and son Fred Ward both of Coffeyville, KS, six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2016 at 2pm at Ford-Wulf Burns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave Coffeyville, KS.
