Janet Sue Menefee, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 23, 1948, in Coffeyville, Kansas, Janet was the cherished daughter of Denzil and Sylvia (Monday) Menefee. She was a proud graduate of Field Kindley Memorial High School and continued her education at Coffeyville Community Junior College, where she earned her Associate's Degree.
Janet dedicated many years of her life to her career, starting at North Reality in Coffeyville before embarking on a longer journey working alongside Dr. Campbell and Dr. Rettle. She ultimately found her place at CRMC, where she served with dedication in the Business Office until her retirement. Janet's kind demeanor and professionalism earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the doctors she worked with.
Beyond her professional life, Janet was a passionate bowler, competing at both state and national levels, a pursuit that brought her joy and camaraderie. Known for her gentle spirit, she also possessed a delightful sense of humor that lightened the hearts of those fortunate enough to be in her presence.
Although Janet never married and did not have children of her own, she poured her love into her family, delighting in her role as an aunt and great-aunt. Her nieces and nephews, along with the next generation of great-nieces and great-nephews, were the apples of her eye, and she lavished them with affection and support.
Janet will be deeply missed by her beloved sister, Barbara Haynes, with whom she shared her home for many years. She leaves behind cherished memories with her nieces Angela Langley (and husband Kelly), Lynne Covington (and husband Leon), nephew Andy Haynes (and wife Charlotte), as well as great-nieces Cheryl Bragg and Chrissy Covington-Goulart, great-nephews Isaac and Lucas Langley, and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Steve Haynes.
Funeral services to honor Janet’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 1 PM at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel located at 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas, officiated by Pastor Dick Smith. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM, also at the chapel.
In this time of sorrow, please consider sharing your condolences or fond memories on her obituary page, allowing Janet’s spirit of love and kindness to live on in our hearts.
