Janey Louise Powell, age 84, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on December 10, 2012 at the Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Celebration of Life Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Mount Washington Cemetery in Lenapah, Oklahoma with the Pastor Jimmy Harrington of the Ridin for the Brand Cowboy Church under the direction of the FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may leave online messages at www.fordwulfbrunsfuneralhome.com.
The family has suggested memorials to the Sycamore United Methodist Church and contributions may be left at the FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Janey Louise Powell was born June 8, 1928 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Clarence and Eva McMillen Brinker. She grew up in the Nowata and Wann, Oklahoma area graduating from the Wann High School. In 1946 Janey married Eugene Chaney in Coffeyville, Kansas and he preceded her in death in 1967. In 1968 Janey married Bobby Moulds and he also preceded her in death in July of 1970. In March of 1974 Janey married Charlie Powell in Miami, Oklahoma. They moved to Sycamore, Kansas and lived until moving to Coffeyville in 2003. Charlie preceded her in death in December of 2003. Janey was a homemaker also working at Electra and was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church, VFW Auxillary Post 1022, Election Voting Board and the Cherry Township. Janey was known for her sewing and seamstress work.
Survivors include one son Roy Michael and wife Brooke of Wann, Oklahoma three daughters Janice Shue and husband Steve of Coffeyville, Kansas, Katherine Sullivan and husband Stan of Independence, Kansas and Deborah Riley of Bartlesville, Oklahoma one step daughter Brenda Tibbets of Coffeyville, Kansas one sister Dorothy Ward of Wann, Oklahoma one brother Joe Brinker of Coffeyville, Kansas seven grandchildren Walter Weakley Jr., Denyse Weakley, Corey Shue, Kelly Noland, Heather Hawkins, Hayden Sullivan and Monica Bay and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one daughter Deanna Glenn, one son Ronald L., one step daughter Billie Thomas, four brothers Ronald, Roy, Bill and Wayne, and one sister Doris Brinker.
