Janice Lay

Janice Louise Lay, age 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Grace Fellowship Church with the Pastor Doug Mund officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the FordWulfBruns Chapel.

Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the FordWulfBruns Chapel. Friends may leave online condolences at www.fordwulfbrunsfuneralhome.com

The family has suggested memorials to the Shriners Crippled Children Foundation or the American Heart Association and contributions may be left at the FordWulfBruns Chapel.

Janice Louise Lay was born August 14, 1941 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Wesley W. and Dorothy L. McCormick Temple. Janice grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas and graduated from the Coffeyville Field Kindley High School in 1959 where she was active in Kayettes, Band and played on the girls basketball team. Janice then graduated from the Bartlesville Beauty College in 1960.

On January 14, 1961 Janice married Alfred Dub Lay in Coffeyville, Kansas where the couple made their home. Janice worked at Mildreds Beauty Salon in the 1960s and for Bob Lois Cott at RX Pharmacy from 1972 to 1984. Dub preceded her in death on August 20, 1983. Janice was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church.

Survivors include two sons Doug and wife Jonna Lay of Coffeyville, Kansas, Steve Lay and girlfriend Angel Alcala of Humble, Texas one brother Joe and wife Carolyn Temple of Coffeyville, Kansas four grandchildren Desmond Lay, Melanie Lay and fianc Kevin Wilson, Wesley Lay and Griffin Lay two step grandchildren Wendy and Katie Honas.
