Jeanne Alyce Roberson Hartwig died on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas, at the age of 78. Jeanne was born in Nowata, Oklahoma, on February 7, 1932 to Jess and Josephine Roberson. She attended school in both Nowata and Coffeyville, graduating from Nowata High School in 1949. She married John Cambron, on January 13, 1951. The couple moved with his work on a seismograph crew to various cities in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and West Virginia. They had 5 children and later divorced in 1961. Jeanne moved back to Nowata with the children and worked for City Services in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. On May 8, 1965, she married Roy Hartwig. Later that same year, the family moved from Nowata to Coffeyville and in 1969 their 6th child was born. Jeanne enjoyed a 30year career with Acme Foundry while helping Roy establish Coffeyville Aircraft. After retiring from Acme, Jeanne started her own residential rental company, traveled, and continued her longstanding service to the community as a Rotarian, Friend of the Mansion, Secretary of the Nowata Historical Society, and member of the First United Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, an elder, and a Sunday school teacher. Jeanne had a passion and talent for cooking and could always be counted on to produce a fabulous meal for the largest of crowds. For many years, her airport Christmas party was an annual event eagerly anticipated by numerous friends and business associates. She was an imaginative seamstress who could whip up a costume or create an evening gown with a moments notice. Jeanne would enthusiastically try her hand at anything new. Her mild manner belied her adventurous spirit. At age 60 she learned how to snow ski. At 65 she went whitewater rafting down the Grand Canyon. At 70 she hiked Enchanted Rock outside of Fredericksburg, Texas. She loved to laugh, always looked for the good in people, always found the silver lining, and simply loved her family and friends.
