Jeannine Shields

Jeannine Louise Shields, 81, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 from a sudden illness. Jeannine was born December 29, 1929 to Clifford Lee and Lena Ethel Shoemaker Alloway in Oswego, Kansas. She later moved to Bartlett, Kansas. She attended both Lockard and Hawkin Elementary Schools in Edna, Kansas. She attended high school at Labette County High School in Altamont, Kansas where she graduated in 1947. Jeannine married James Dale Shields April 3, 1949 after he returned home from the Armed Forces in Germany. Jeannine and her husband, Jim moved to Joplin, Missouri in 1993 and resided there until their deaths. Jim passed away October 11, 2002. Jeannine joined First Christian Church in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1954, where she was a member until her death. She was a deaconess then deacon and served on many committees throughout the years. She also helped with Bible school and childrens Sunday school classes and youth groups. She assisted with girl scouts and campfire girls. She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Mathis and husband Tim of Joplin, MO six grandchildren: Tracy Yandell, Tony Mathis and wife Dana, Michael Wheeler, Brian Mathis, Sally Mathis Eddington and husband, Chad and Kenzie Smtih nine great grandchildren brother, Richard Alloway and wife, Darlene of Coffeyville, Kansas and a sister, Shirley Fentress and husband Denny of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Jeannine was preceded in death by her by her parents, Clifford and Lena loving husband, Jim daughters, Carol Sue Horton and Lou Ann Reisman and her brothers, Dale and Norman Alloway. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. A visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.
