Jerry L.Pokey Smith 1941 2005 Jerry L.Pokey Smith, age 64, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away early Monday morning July 25, 2005 at his home in Coffeyville. Jerry was born on May 6, 1941 in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Velma and William Smith. Jerry graduated from Field-Kindley High School, attended Wyoming University on a
ing scholarship and graduated from Coffeyville Community College. Jerry served in the United States Army from 1965 until 1967 and was stationed in Germany most of this time. On January 27, 1967, Jerry married Carol S. Finch of Tucson, Arizona. They resided in Coffeyville, Kansas their entire married life. Jerry worked for the Sherwin-Williams Company until the plant closing and then worked for Warburton Valve until he retired because of health. Jerry was a
er and won many titles while attending Field-Kindley High School. Jerry loved golf, loved to read westerns and was a member of VFW Post 1022 and American Legion. Jerry was also a Mason of the Coffeyville Lodge. Jerry was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. Jerry is survived by his wife Carol of the home; two sons, Brian Smith and his wife Leslie and their two children Ian and Remy of Pittsburg, Kansas; Brent Smith and his wife Becky and their two children Bayleigh and Ben of Coffeyville, Kansas; a brother, Ronald D. Smith of Dallas, Texas and sister-in-law, Francis Wilson of Branson, Missouri. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother William F. Smith. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27th at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville with the family receiving friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Military Rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 1022 of Coffeyville, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 28th 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Fr. Jerry Adinolfi will be officiating. Burial will follow in Robbins Cemetery, Rural Coffeyville. The family has requested memorial contributions to St. Pauls Episcopal Church of Coffeyville.
