Jessie was born on May 5, 1939, in Potter, Arkansas, the second born to Johnnie Jessie Joplin and Lizzie D. (Watkins) Joplin. Jessie relocated to Coffeyville, Kansas with his family at an early age. He attended McKinley Grade School and Roosevelt Middle School before graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School.

Soon after graduation Jessie enlisted in the US Navy serving 4 years from 1957 to 1961. During his enlistment he served on the USS Midway. After serving and being Honorably Discharged Jessie returned to Coffeyville, Kansas.

In 1961 he met his soulmate, Donna Caldwell, the love of his life, and took her hand in marriage in 1963. They had four children.

Jessie was a hard worker and held multiple jobs. He worked at Sherwin Williams, Aptus, Pepsi and then American Insulated Wire until he retired.

Along with his full-time jobs he took on many part-time jobs. VFW, Eagles Lodge, Carpentry. He was well known for roofing houses and many people in the area specifically requested him when seeking a roofer. He was well respected by many people.

Jessie enjoyed the outdoors where he would pick pecans with family, hunt squirrels and fish. He also enjoyed motor cycle riding with his wife, American muscle cars, and carpentry.

During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jessie was a gentle man. He was a great husband and very good father that always provided for his family regardless of the sacrifices. We could not have asked for better husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an exceptional son and sibling. He will forever be loved, cherished and dearly missed.
