Jewell L.Auntie Jewell Fahler, 93, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, March 23, 2011 at Windsor Place Care Center, Coffeyville. Jewell was born February 25, 1918 at Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Balis F. Randolph and Ethel M. Hulet Randolph. She moved to the Valeda, Kansas area with her family when she was five years old. Jewell liked to recall the trip which was made in two covered wagons. She attended Valeda Grade School and graduated from Altamont High School in 1936. On September 23, 1940, she married Arlo Ralph Fahler at Joplin, Missouri. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Coffeyville for several years. Mr. Fahler served in the Army during World War II and worked for Nutrena Mills and Funk Manufacturing during his career. Jewell worked for Sears Roebuck until she and Arlo moved to their farm north of Dearing, Kansas in 1954. She enjoyed raising cattle, sewing, gardening and caring for her many friends and family. Jewell was a member of the Dearing Christian Church. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Janie Williams of Coffeyville, James Harris of Pittsburg, Kansas, Rebecca Cunningham of Edmond, Oklahoma and Richard Randolph of Coweta, Oklahoma two Goddaughters, Tisha Willis of Branson, Missouri and Tonya Trimble of Coffeyville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo Fahler by her parents by her sisters, Carmen Westervelt and Dean Harris by a brother, Harold Randolph and by a nephew, Billie Westervelt. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., March 28, 2011 at Dearing Christian Church with Pastor Jamie Regis officiating. Interment will be in Coffeyvilles Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, 16 p.m. at PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory. Donations can be made to the Jewell Fahler Memorial Dearing Christian Church and may be left with the funeral home.
