Jim Kebert, 75, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home in rural Coffeyville, Kansas. Jim was born January 18, 1937 in Neodesha, Kansas to John and Helen Coats Kebert. He graduated from Independence High School and Independence Community College. Afterwards, he served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. Then, he attended Wichita State University. On July 1, 1962, Jim married Nancy Jane Smith in Cherryvale, Kansas. He spent the majority of his career as a laboratory technician, notably with Heartland Cement Company. He was active in middle school and high school sports where he was one ofKayos Boys. In addition to being active in community college sports, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Jim also was a 4H project geology leader, a former youth Sunday School teacher, and was active in Boy Scouts as a youth. He also enjoyed collecting rocks and fossils and lapidary work. Jim and his family ran a beef cowcalf operation and put up hay. Survivors are his wife son, Daniel Kebert, Liberty, Kansas brother, Gary L. Kebert companion Susie Hart, Santa Fe, New Mexico and sisters, Carolyn Souders and husband Merle, Wichita, Kansas, and Sherri Myers and husband, Byron, Andover, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Darrin Kebert. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Burial will be held at Big Sandy Cemetery, Woodson County, Kansas on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Friends may call on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel, Coffeyville, to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Coffeyville First Christian Church.
