Jimmie Dee Atkinson age 89 passed away on August 11, 2018 at St. Frances Hospital, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jim was born on December 26, 1928 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Marion and Elsie Sarah (Lowe) Atkinson. He attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School. Jim worked for Coop now known as CVR Energy until his retirement he was a very dedicated employee. He enjoyed reading western books, mowing, car rides, everything chocolate particularly milk shakes. Jim also enjoyed building things, he built their family home that was just north of Dearing. Most of all Jim really enjoyed his family. Jim shared 70 years of marriage with his bride Mary Wanda (Hepner) Atkinson, together they had four children.

Those left to share memories of Jim, are his wife, Pinky Atkinson of the home, daughter, Kristi Gay Howard and her husband Norman; sons, James Joel "Joe" Atkinson and his wife Hope, Charles "Chuck" Arthur Atkinson and his wife Angie; three grandchildren, Angela Barrow, Kassy Howard, Daniel Atkinson and his wife Amber, eight great grandchildren, Colsen, Ayden, Braylen, Bynlyn Barrow, Karyssa Hall, Bryce, Brayden and Kinsley Atkinson; sister, Kathryn Lucille Wise. He was preceded in death by his son, Dan Lee Atkinson and his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11 am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, with Pastor Jamie Regis of Dearing Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Chapel from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will take place at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. The family has requested memorial contributions be made payable to First Baptist Church of Coffeyville, contributions may be left in care of the chapel.
