Jimmie Floyd Strope Rural Wann, Oklahoma resident Jimmie Floyd Strope went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 25, 2006. He was 62. Jimmie was born on August 27, 1944 in Coffeyville to Roy and Ruth Strope. He grew up and attended schools in Wayside and Havana and graduated from high school. Later, he joined the United States Army where he served in Viet Nam. After the military he worked for Kansas Gas and Electric where he retired after 34 years of service. He married his companion of eleven years, Jeanie Martin on April 17, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nv. They made their home in Wann, Oklahoma. Jimmie enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a member of the Wayside Christian Church and later the Tyro Christian Church. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanie Strope of the home, Daughters, Teresa Mansfield and Susanne Strope both of Independence; a twin brother Jack and Sherri Strope of Tulsa, A brother Elmer Strope of Sanger, Ca.; a sister Bertha and Dale Freidline of Kincaid, Kansas; a grandaughter, Samantha Jo Mansfield of Independence, a grandson, Jimmie Mansfield of Independence and a great-grandson Wyatt Lumbley of Independence; also 6 nieces and 19 nephews. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lawrence and Roy Strope Jr.; a sister Pat Lichgy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 30, 2006 in the Tyro Chrisitan Church. Pastor David Brycroft will officiate and burial will follow in the .........Cemetery under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Saturday from 9 AM until 9 PM and Sunday from 1 PM until 9 PM at the funeral home to sign the guest register. The casket has been closed.
