Joann Corser

Joann Corser, age 82 passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Joann was born on July 10, 1937 to John W. and Bertha E. (Shepard) Miller in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Joann grew up in Coffeyville where she attended school and completed her education. Joann was one of three children.  She and her sisters grew up in a time that many would have called simpler times.  Over her lifetime she experienced many peaks and valleys, her faith and love for Jesus Christ carried her through the best and worst of times.  She was a member of the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville.

On October 25, 1976 she married Jack Corser in Miami, Oklahoma at Lavern’s wedding chapel.  Together they made their home in Coffeyville.  Joann worked in the home for many years prior to going to work at ACC in Independence, where retirement and Jack at the refinery.  After retirement they moved to Grove, Oklahoma to be near Grand Lake.  They enjoyed the lake and worked hard to make their dream of retiring there a reality.  While in Grove they attended the Faith Pentecostal Church in Miami, Oklahoma.  Jack preceded her in death in July 18, 2012.

Joann enjoyed going to church, singing, cooking, sewing and crocheting.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend and grandmother, she was a very selfless person.  Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Just like grandmas are supposed to do, she adorned them with love, attention, a favorite meal or a gift made by her.  If you ask any of her grandchildren, to share in a found memory they would be able to recount many found memories and that there was no question if they were loved by her.

Those left to cherish special memories are her daughter, Brenda Hamblin of Elk City, Kansas; sons, Charles Corser of Road Island, Darrell Corser of Muskogee, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amy, April, Jon, Matt, Jason, Angie, Lori and T.J.; ten great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, and husband Joann was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Ball and great granddaughter, Maddyson, sisters, Pauline Hill and Esther Miller.

Due to the current restrictions a private family services will be held on Saturday, April 11 under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel followed by burial at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack.  The family has requested memorial contributions be made payable to Windsor Place Chelsea Unit Activity fund; contributions may be left in care of chapel.   To leave a message of condolence visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
