Coffeyville resident, John D. Blakslee, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was 79. He was born May 13, 1928 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Ora B. Blakslee and Mary Maxwell Blakslee. He attended Cedar Bluff School. John was enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1957 and in the Air Force from 1957 to 1967. He married Lois Purdy on May 4, 1951 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. John was employed by Sherwin Williams until his retirement. He also did farming for Bob and Tony Campbell for over 20 years. He is survived by daughters, Susan Pollett of Coffeyville; Connie Bisby of Springfield, Missouri; Kerry Beeson of Coffeyville; Kay Yeubanks of Coffeyville and Kristi Smith of Miami, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, North of Coffeyville. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel to sign the guest register. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Memorials are suggested to Central Church of the Nazarene of Coffeyville and may be left with the funeral home.
