John Lockaby

Pastor John Edward Lockaby age 81, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, was welcomed into his eternal home in Heaven on May 19, 2017.

John was born on October 8, 1935 in Bonham, TX to John Anderson and Josie (Knipe) Lockaby. John attended the local school until the sudden passing of his father; he then went to work in the cotton fields to help support the family. In 1957 John gave his heart to the Lord, it was that year he traveled to Coffeyville to attend a revival, while there he met Lois Colquitt. John decided that Lois was worth moving to Coffeyville for and the couple was united in marriage on March 14, 1959. John founded many churches over the past 60 years, Caney, Parsons, Chetopa, Coffeyville, and South Coffeyville. He has been the Pastor of the Southview Church of God in South Coffeyville, OK for the past 29 years. He also worked for the Brickyard, the Flour Mill, and as a custodian at the school. John enjoyed playing dominoes; buying, selling, and trading; he loved going to auctions; and above all he loved God, his family, and his church families. John had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around, he loved visiting with people and sharing his love of God with the world, and the best way to do that was to "fellowship and eat".

His memories will live on with his son; Mark Lockaby his wife Tracey, daughters; Colleen Hufferd her husband John and Angela Gray her husband Reverend Johnny Gray, brothers; Larry, Wade, and Leeman Lockaby, grandchildren, Michelle Smith her husband Brandon, Nicole McIntosh her husband Jason, Jonathan Hufferd his wife Misty, Heather Steen her husband Ben, Haley Goodine her husband Nicholas, Bradley, Josh, and Satara Gray, great-grandchildren; Hunter Mason, Chandler Mason, Emily McIntosh, Jordan Bowers, Matthew Goodine, Makayla Goodine, and Gunner Hufferd.

John now rests with his parents, wife of 50 years, Lois, son, Phillip, one brother, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Southview Church of God, South Coffeyville, OK at 11:00am with Pastor Kenneth Adams officiating, with interment following at Robbins Cemetery. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made payable to the Southview Church of God and they may be sent in care of the Chapel.
