John Schieberl, 87, of Wann, Oklahoma Coffeyville Area passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at CRMC. John was born on September 18, 1924 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John and Lela Proctor Schieberl. In 1937 he moved to Cooper, Texas. He attended school in Oklahoma City and Antioch School in Cooper. At age 16 he joined the CCC job corp., working in the Mesa Verde Park in Colorado. In January, 1942 he entered the U. S. Navy, serving during WWII in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in December, 1945. Following his discharge he came to Coffeyville where he obtained his G.E.D and attended McFarland Trade School. He then began working for Parkersburg Rig Reel, now Parmac, and later worked for Schwinn Machine Tool Products Company. In 1950 he began working for Funk Manufacturing, retiring in 1986. In 1959 he moved to the farm southwest of Coffeyville in Oklahoma with his mother and sister where the family operated a Truck Farm. Mr. Schieberl enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Mr. Schieberl was a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge No. 102 A.F. A.M. of Coffeyville, Mirza Temple Shrine at Pittsburg, Kansas, and the V.F.W. Post 1022 of Coffeyville. John was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Wann. Surviving to honor his memory is his sister, Laverne of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lela Schieberl. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Brother Bob Glasgow will officiate. Masonic Rites will be provided by the Keystone Masonic Lodge No. 102 of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Tuesday, June 5th from 9:00 am until Noon at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri these may be left with the funeral home.
