JOHNNIE ELMER HALLUM 1923 - 2004 Johnnie Elmer Hallum, age 81, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2004 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was born on February 24, 1923 in McDonald, Kansas to Charlie Jackson and Ona Edith Nelson Hallum. He spent his youth in Kansas and moved to Wynona, Oklahoma with his parents and family. They later moved to a farm east of Pahuska, Oklahoma. He was a 1941 graduate of Nelogany High School in Nelogany, Oklahoma. He graduated from Tishomingo trade school in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where he received a master machinist degree. On November 1, 1942 he married Mildred M. Warehime in the home of the brides parents in Okesa, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. For several years Mr. Hallum farmed and raised livestock in Nowata County. Elmer and a friend Clyde Hancock became business partners in 1954 and founded HH Oil Well Service. After ten years Mr. Hancock passed away and Elmer purchased the other half of the business. In 1975 his oldest son Calvin moved from Kansas City with his family and became his fathers business partner, in HH Oil Well Service HH Production. Elmer was in the oil field business for more than forty three years. Elmer was well thought of and respected in the oil field business and he will be surely missed by those who new him. He also served on the board of directors of Hallum Tooling and Incorporated of Wichita, Kansas which was run by his brother Lloyd Hallum, president and owner. Other survivors include: One daughter, Karen Marie Benbrook and husband Gary of Grove, Oklahoma. Four grandchildren, Mark Hallum, Great Bend, Ks; Matthew Hallum, Houston, Tx; Brian Hallum, Seal Beach, Ca. Zach Benbrook, Miami, Ok.. Four great grandchildren, Destiny, Evan, Sarah Elias. Two brothers, Lloyd Hallum, Wichita, Ks.; Donald Hallum, Independence, Ks.. Three sisters, Edith Lorton, Emma Lou Wright Lois Davis all of Bartlesville, Ok.. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Calvin in May 26, 1997 and Duane in August 21, 1975. Elmer and Mildred are members of the Church of Christ, Coffeyville, Kansas. Elmers favorite hobbies were golf and traveling. He was a member of the Holiday Rambler Club of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has traveled all over the United States, Mexico and Canada. Calling hours will be from 1:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m., on Monday, December 6, 2004 at the Penwell-Gabel Graves Chapel, 1117 W. 8th Street, Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the Church of Christ, Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Steven Wick will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery of Coffeyville, Kansas. Family has suggested memorial contributions to the Church of Christ, Coffeyville, Kansas. co Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns are handling arrangements.
