Former Liberty resident Jolene Van Cleave passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. She was 82. Jolene was born September 7, 1926 in Liberty, Kansas to Winston K. and Margaret E. Keesler Evans. She grew up in Liberty where she attended Liberty Grade School. She went on to graduate from Field Kindley High School, Coffeyville, Kansas. On July 30, 1948 she was united in marriage to WilliamBill Joseph Van Cleave in Cherryvale, Kansas. He preceded her in death October 30, 1997. Following their marriage they made their home in Liberty. Jolene spent her time as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She adored her cockatiel, and loved to pass time visiting with her friends and family. Surviving to honor her memory are her daughters, Ginger Long of Carl Junction, MO, Billie Jim Osborne of Adrian, MO; grandchildren, Casey and Logan Osborne of Adrian, MO, Jason Lisa Gregory of Joplin, MO; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kayla Gregory of Joplin, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Bill, and a sister Cleta Burris. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Kansas. Friends may call on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to sign the guest register at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, KS. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kansas City Hospice House these may be left with the funeral home.
