Judy Ervin

Judy R. Ervin age 66 passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas with her family by her side.

Judy was born in Denver, Colorado on October 29, 1955, to Bobby and Faye (Bennett) Morrison.  Judy grew up in a home filled with love and five other siblings to play with.  Judy grew up in Aurora, CO., where she attended grade school and graduated from William C. Hinkley High School.  It was in high school where she and Dale met during her freshman year.  They got married midway through her junior year of H.S. on March 25, 1972, and she finished her senior year in 6 months.

Where Dale was, Judy was always by his side.  They worked together as entrepreneurs opening their service/gas stations in 1974 and expanding to multiple locations over time.  Judy kept the books and Dale made sure all the stations were running properly.  In 1997 they sold the stations and began a whole new adventure of opening Primitive Fear, a Haunted House production. Judy continued to be the bookkeeper and cashiering while Dale made sure all the business events were in operation.  Primitive Fear expanded from Colorado to New Mexico until 2011 when they tried retirement, once again.  Dale and Judy were enjoying retirement, living life and seeing the country through the windshield of their RV, when small town life came calling. You never know where life might take you, sometimes just a visit is all it takes to know something just feels right.  Judy and Dale moved to Coffeyville just 7 years ago because of a friendship with Jon Clough with Clough Oil who they became acquainted with through their days of owning their service/gas station.  They came to visit Coffeyville and Judy just fell in love with the small-town life and Coffeyville.

Being entrepreneurs and starting businesses has always been more than just work for the couple; it has been a family affair. Their oldest son, Dale Jr. had a patio deck business that was quickly growing and expanding out to the west coast from Colorado. In need of an experienced bookkeeper and a savvy businessperson, retirement was placed on the back burner yet again.  Dale and Judy, working in the family business once again, would take every opportunity to share how terrific their children; Dale Jr., Wendy and Steven were to them.  Judy's husband and children were her whole world.

Judy's love for Christ was her cornerstone.  While growing up, she memorized bible verses and was eager to learn all about her creator.  Later, she found her home at Trinity Baptist Church in Aurora, CO., where she was a member for several years prior to moving to Coffeyville in 2014.  Once Judy and Dale settled in town, they found and became members of First Baptist Church.  Church life was so important because of the love that is shared among the congregations and growing relationships that become like family.

The day that Judy became a grandma was the best day ever.  She loved her children but, oh her grandchildren, she adored them.  She was happiest when she could gather them all in her home and love on them.

Judy enjoyed the simple things in life. Preparing meals for her family brought her great joy.  Judy had a love for animals, especially horses. Most recently she had taken up bird watching, with multiple feeders in her backyard that she always made sure were filled, to watch just how many types of bird she might attract.  Family has always been very important to Judy; with great interest in knowing her family’s history, she has done extensive genealogy research to know more.

Judy’s husband Dale gives God thanks and praise for giving him the best wife ever, the best mother to their children, Dale Ervin Jr., Wendy and her husband Justin Young, Steven Ervin and his wife Jennifer, and the best Grandma to their 13 grandchildren: Camden Ervin, Jacob Young, Kira Ervin, Mackenzie Young, Kaylie Young, Ashlee Ervin, Brooklynn Young, Alexis Young, Stevie Ervin, Ryan Young, Ellie Young, Harper Ervin, Landon Young; a wonderful sister to her brother, Bobby Morrison.  Also at rest are her parents, siblings, Gary and Duane Morrison, JoAnn and Rebecca who preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be held to celebrate her life at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 300 W. 9th, in Coffeyville under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.
