Julia Jonell Megredy, age 98, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2019, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family in Plano, TX. Born on February 21, 1923, in Schell City, Missouri, to J. W. Ditty and Aldeane Hoagland Ditty. The youngest of three siblings, she grew up in Schell until moving to Coffeyville, Kansas, to attend Coffeyville Community College and being an accountant for her uncle’s haberdashery. In Coffeyville, she met and married her husband, M. Howard Megredy, on November 29, 1942. Howard’s long career in aviation brought them to Dallas in 1952, where they became members of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. Upon Howard’s retirement, they enjoyed cruises, trips to Europe and being with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband in 2000, her parents, her two brothers, Jewell Dean and George, and a daughter, Marianne Beckham. She is survived by son Doug Megredy and his wife, Sherry; 4 grandchildren – Matthew Beckham of Leonard, TX; Amy Megredy Clark and her husband Jonathan of Plano, TX; Cathleen Megredy Richards and her husband Mike of Plano, TX; Mike Megredy and his wife Lindsey of Fort Worth, TX; along with 6 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include a niece, Harriett Ditty Newland of Aiken, South Carolina; a cousin, John R. Hoagland of Schell City, Missouri; as well as many other cousins, grandnieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, 4:00 – 5:30 pm at Sparkman-Hillcrest in Dallas. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale at 11:00am.
