Katherine Louise Smith Coffeyville resident, Katherine Louise Hahn Smith. Passed away Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2006 in Coffeyville. She was 98. Katherine was born September 22, 1908 in Coffeyville to Sebastian and Bertha Horetta Reece Hahn. She attended schools in Coffeyville and graduated from Coffeyville Community College. She received her Bachlors Degree from Oklahoma University, and later a Masters Degree from Pittsburgh State University, Pittsburgh, Kansas. On May 28, 1937 she married Patrick Benton Smith in Coffeyville. Mr. Smith died on November 15, 1955. Katherine then taught school for 22 years at Edgewood Elementary School. She was an active member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church where she held many offices as well as in the convocation and diocese. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority at Oklahoma University, a charter member of Round Table Study Club, life member of P.T.A. life member of the Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas, a 50 year member of CCC Alumni Association, member of A.A.U.W., member of the White Shrine and Daughters of the Nile. Katherine is survived by a daughter-in-law Vivian Carol Smith of Carrollton TX and grandaughter Lynnette and her husband Steve Nigra of Lewisville, TX and one Great-grandson William Angelo Sacco of Lewisville, TX She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,son William Bill Patrick who died June 15, 1996, one sister, Elizabeth Portia Schiltz and one brother Sebastian Clarke Hahn. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 24, 2006 in the St. Pauls Episcopal Church. Reverend Jerry Adinolfi will officiate and burial will follow in Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville. Memorials may be made to the St. Pauls Episcopal Church Endowment Fund.
