Keith Orrin Ellison age 96 of Tyro passed away on April 27, 2020 at the Guests Home Estates of Caney.
Keith was born in rural Coffeyville on October 2, 1923 to Orrin and Irma (Leslie) Ellison. He went to grammar school at West Brown until the 8th grade; he then finished his high school career graduating from Field Kindley High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served until 1946. After his honorable discharge he returned home and was united in marriage to Emma Maude Denny on September 29, 1947. The couple was blessed with a son, Edward. Keith worked some odd jobs at the mill and such before finding employment at Funk Manufacturing as a machinist. He also raised cattle, and managed their farm. During the summer months it would be odd to find him anywhere but on his tractor up until the age of 93, he loved baling hay with his brother every season. Keith also enjoyed playing cards, cooking, going to breakfast with his group of friends, going to the sale barn even though he never bought anything, and mostly he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren with as much chocolate as he could find. Keith was quick witted, always playing jokes with his family and friends, always gave the best advice like “Don’t take any wooden nickels”, and the competitive daily check of the stock market to see if Emma’s stock was doing better than his cattle investments. Keith was hardworking, fair, honest, and had a great love for his family.
Keith’s memories will live on with his daughter-in-law Paula Ellison, grandchildren; Cory Ellison his wife Ana, Zachary Ellison his wife Gail, Tyler Ellison his wife Kelsey, and Kyla Angel her husband Bronc, his brother Dale Ellison, his sister Reba Miller, and great-grandchildren; Gemma, Aaliyah, Mariah, Iris, Keith, Orin, Emma, and Rowan.
He now rests with his parents, his wife Emma, his son Edward, siblings; Les Ellison, Kenneth “Porky” Ellison, Alleyne Ellison, Ruth Jabben, and Annabel Westerhaus.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 11:00am at the Robbins Cemetery Patio with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating.
