Kenneth "Eugene" Morgan, 89, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Eugene was born on April 10, 1926 in Chelsea, Oklahoma to Clarence and Willie (Maggard) Morgan. He grew up in Craig County, Oklahoma where he attended Ideal Elementary School and received his high school education from Edna, Kansas High School. After school, Eugene went to work with his brother Floyd running the Morgan Oil Company filling station in Edna, Kansas.
On July 13, 1950 he married the love of his life, Billie Jo Rexwinkle in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The couple made their home in rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Eugene answered his call of duty in April 1954 and served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in February of 1955.
Eugene was a rancher that filled his days tending to the farm. He and Billie Jo enjoyed spending time on Grand Lake in their younger years, where they enjoyed water skiing. Eugene also enjoyed quail, pheasant and prairie chicken hunting.
Surviving to honor his memory are his children, Kelvin Morgan and wife, Susan of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Belinda Compston and husband, Dave of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christal Whaley and husband, Brett, David Compston and wife, Jennifer, Jennifer Johnson and husband, Billy, Russell Compston and wife, Cassity, Dalton Morgan, Caitlin Dilldine and husband, Blade and Landon Morgan and wife, Emily; great grandchildren, Mackynzie Compston, Chaszity Compston, Cierra Chuleewah, Cheyenne Chuleewah, Riley Johnson, Ashlyn Whaley, Austin Whaley, Charlee Jo Whaley, Evelyn Compston, Ethan Compston, Rylan Compston, Adalyn Compston and Afton Dilldine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Willie; loving wife, Billie Jo who passed away on May 6, 2015; brothers, Floyd and Arthur Morgan.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Bill Bath will officiate. Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at North Edna Elm Grove Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will greet friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to Christ's Church of Labette County; these may also be left with the funeral home.
