Kevin Lynn Drum 68 originally from Coffeyville, Kansas and currently Lake Jackson, Texas passed from this life on March 24, 2025 at Houston Methodist Hospital after an extended illness. Kevin was born on February 11, 1957 in Coffeyville Kansas, to Lloyd and Claudette Drum.
Some of Kevin’s fondest memories were growing up in Coffeyville on Martin Street. He played baseball as a kid (frequently on teams that his father helped coach). Kevin enjoyed swimming and worked as a lifeguard during his teens. Kevin attended Whittiker Elementary school and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1975. He was on the wrestling team and competed with the track team in the shot-put event. Kevin enjoyed music and singing. From grade school through college, he was a member of the choir. He graduated from Coffeyville junior College in 1977. He attended Memphis State University in Tennessee for a year. His first day in Memphis was the day that Elvis died (an experience he said he would never forget). He then transferred to Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas on a music scholarship from 1978 to 1980. After which he attended and graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg Kansas with a bachelor's degree. Kevin stayed connected with many of his friends. He especially enjoyed planning reunions with his classmates.
On August 1, 1981 Kevin married Victoria (Russell) at the First Baptist Church of Coffeyville. Victoria and Kevin met while he was attending Ottawa University and lived a beautiful life together. Kevin and Victoria loved dancing and gardening. They started their married life together in Pittsburg before moving to Topeka Kansas. He was employed at Topeka State Hospital as a Licensed Mental Health Technician. He was working with children and adolescents. He was much admired and recognized for his ability to work with troubled teenagers. He was also employed part time then full time at the Menninger Children’s Hospital. In 1992 Kevin and Victoria moved to Florida to Kevins favorite city, Tampa. Tampa was their home for 30 years. Kevin was employed by St. Josephs Hospital Menninger psychiatric unit from 1993 until 2000 his duties included making mental health evaluations and placements in the ER. Following a work-related neck injury, Kevin pursued a career in IT. He received his A+ Certified Professional certificate after which he started his own business. Recently in 2022 Kevin and Victoria moved to Lake Jackson Tx to be closer to family and still be able to enjoy warm weather.
Kevin was proceeded in death by his father Lloyd G. Drum, a nephew Jason Drum, his father in-law James E. Russell and his mother in-law Reba Russell.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife Victoria retired Registered Nurse. His mother Claudette Drum and his brother Brent (Patricia) Drum all of Kansas, brother in-law Tracy (Sheryl) Russell of Oklahoma, sister in-law Terri (Mike) Wichman of Texas, brother in-law Phillip Russell of Texas. He is survived by many nieces and nephews including Chris (Nikole) Drum and their children Charli, Acie, Brentli and Dawson of Kansas. Brandy (Scott) McFall and their son Hurley of Kansas. Anthony (Kathleen) Russell their children Owen, Luke, and Grace of Kansas. Joy (Nathan) Ricones their children Katelyn, Jillian, and Logan of Texas. John (Christy) Deam their children Kalynn, Jackson, Keegan and Easton of Texas. Amy (Kyle) Muirheid their children Evan (Dallas), Kya and Noah of Texas. Jason Deam and his daughters Summer, and Julia of Nevada. Adam (Tayrn) their son Walker of Texas. Dustin (Kari) Russell and their children Ethan, Peyton, Elinore, Josephine, Clara, and Garner of Texas. Tyler (Cayman) Russell their daughter Canyon of California. Andrew (Morgan) Russell and their daughter Lyra of Texas. Daisy Russell and her son Ezra of Texas. Yasmin (Justin) Moore of Texas.
Kevin's family is honoring his wishes of cremation. Victoria and family will be Celebrating his life with a Memorial Service that will be held at Ford-Wulf- Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave. in Coffeyville, Kansas.
