Kim Jones

Kim Marlene Jones, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, of rural South Coffeyville, OK passed away on December 20, 2019.  She was born in Coffeyville, KS on November 16, 1947 to Frank and Margie (Fortner) Marang.  Kim graduated from Lenapah High School in 1965.  She attended college at Coffeyville Community College and received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Arkansas in 1969.

In 1967 she married her high school sweetheart, Sherman Jones.  They lived in various places during Sherman’s military career and built their forever home in rural South Coffeyville in 1976.

Kim was a dedicated and well-loved teacher for 31 years.  She taught at Edgewood Elementary in Coffeyville, KS for a year.  She then took some time off to raise her children and returned to teaching once they were all in school.  Upon returning, she taught at Wann and Lenapah Schools in Oklahoma and finally transferred to Oklahoma Union School, where she completed her teaching career.  One of the highlights of her career was obtaining her National Board Certification.

Kim and Sherman had four children and ten grandchildren: Amy and Troy Graefe from Greeley, CO and their daughters, Caitlin and Megan; Lauri Jones from Columbia, TN and her children, Braden and Madison Mayfield; Sara and Adam Thomasson from Baxter Springs, KS and their daughters, Jacy, Rilyn and Landry; Jeff and Amanda Jones from Fairview, TN and their daughters, Hadley, Grace and Lynden.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margie Marang.  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, Sherman Jones, all of their children and spouses, grandchildren, sister, Karla Keck and her husband, Richard, and her brother, Kent Marang and his wife Linda.

Visitation will be held at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 506 W 9th, Coffeyville, KS 67337 on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 am, burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville.  Memorial contributions may be made payable to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Oklahoma Union Education Foundation in Memory of Kim Jones, contributions may be left in care of the chapel.  To leave a message of condolence for the family visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
