Larry Phillips

Mr. Larry Phillips, 75, of Coffeyville, died Monday morning at his home. Lawrence Erwin Phillips was born April 7, 1935 at Coffeyville, Kansas, the son of Sam Phillips and Rose Schwartzstein Phillips. He attended Coffeyville schools, graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1953. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years until 1957. After returning to Coffeyville, he attended and graduated from Coffeyville Community College. He joined his father and brother in the operation of Phillips Steel and Metal Company in Coffeyville. He retired in 2000. Mr. Phillips was very active in Coffeyville Regional Medical Center and served on its Board of Directors for many years. On January 31, 1965 at Tulsa Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Carol Allen. Mrs. Phillips survives at the home. Additional survivors include: two sons, Reade Phillips and Alan Phillips, both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma a daughter, Kimberly Phillips Perschall of Gardener, Kansas seven grandchildren, Nathan Perschall, Jordan Rose Phillips, Blake Perschall, Adrian Phillips, Madison Phillips, Josh Phillips and Sam Phillips and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leland and Morton Phillips. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the PenwellGabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel with Rabbi Charles Sherman of Beth Israel Temple of Tulsa, Oklahoma, officiating. Friends may call to register from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The family has suggested memorials to Coffeyville Regional Medical or St. Judes Childrens Hospital and memorials will be received at the funeral home.
