Dearing resident Larry S. Thomas passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at CRMC. He was 71. Larry was born December 10, 1937 to Luther and Evalyn Thomas. He grew up in Coffeyville until he joined the U.S. Army. After his career in the military he made his home in Coffeyville where he worked for Acme Foundry as a machinist for 35 years until his retirement in 1998. On December 26, 1997 he married Lolita Bido at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Larry enjoyed wood working, building cabinets, tables and chairs. He was proud of his computer and liked gardening. He enjoyed watching westerns especially John Wayne. Most of all he enjoyed the company of people and loved kids. Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving to honor his memory is his loving wife of the home, Lolita; daughter, Pat Guest of Texas; step-daughter Emmylou Dr. Eric Baz of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; step-son Evaristo Leonida Crafton of Dearing, Kansas; grandchildren, David Stephanie Baker, Emily Baker, LeighAnn Baz, Roddy Baz and Evalen Crafton; two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Father Ben Ngyuen and Dr. Wayne Norton will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Monday, February 23, 2009 to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Coffeyville Boys amp; Girls Club or The Salvation Army these may be left with the funeral home.
