Laura Jessie Morrow passed away on Friday, Mar 20, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 16, 1918 in Coffeyville, KS to Earl and Ella Mae Zimmerman. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended Field Kindley High School receiving her diploma in 1935. On June 18, 1938 she married Ivan D. Morrow from that union were five children. They later
orced. Laura was the owner and operator of Powder Puff Beauty Shop until 1940 and also owned a Decoupage shop in her home creating purses, pictures and boxes. One of her pictures hung in the Capitol Building in the office of Sen. Walter Mondale. At age 60 she went to work for USD 445 school district in the food service department retiring after fifteen years. She was the Music Director and Soloist for the First Church of God for twenty five years then went on to be Song Director and Soloist for the Trinity United Methodist Church where she was an active member. Surviving to honor her memory are her sons, David Karolyn Morrow of Granbury, TX, Kenneth Morrow of Tulsa, OK, Philip Vicky Morrow of Coffeyville, Richard Stacey Morrow of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Marilyn John Black of Nisswa, MN; sister, Gretchen Meeske of Bartlesville, OK; brother, Douglas Zimmerman of Bakersfield, CA; fourteen grandchildren and twenty nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl W. Zimmerman; granddaughter, Sally Morrow Price. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. Pastor Lee Passwater will officiate. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm to sign the guest register at Penwell-Gabels Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church these may be left with the funeral home.
