Lee F. Lasley, 98, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at CRMC in Coffeyville. Lee was born on November 12, 1913 in rural Coffeyville, Kansas to Hugh and Edith Harrison Lasley. He attended McKennan and Valeda High School. Lee entered the service on May 12, 1942 and served in the 337th Infantry Regiment, serving in World War II. On June 3, 1944 he was wounded near Rome, Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Service Star. He received an honorable discharge from the service on August 2, 1945. Lee farmed on his parents homestead where he raised cattle. He enjoyed horses and going to the horse sales. He attended church at Valeda United Methodist Church. Surviving to honor his memory are his sister, Wilma Benning of Cherryvale, Kansas nephew, David Benning and wife, Rexanne of Liberty, Kansas niece, Carol Staton and husband, Barry of Cherryvale, Kansas and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Edith, sister, Faye Robinson and a nephew, Jack Robinson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Chaplain Mike Graham will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery north east of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Valeda United Methodist Church or to the Disabled American Veterans these may be left with the funeral home.
