Lena Tovey went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 4, 2006. She was a wonderful mother and best friend to her daughter, Pam. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Lena was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on September 10, 1911. She was the eleventh of thirteen children; seventh and last daughter born to F.M. Frank and Effie Fulton Scott. Lena attended school here. She lived in Coffeyville all of her life except for the years 1994 to 1998, when she moved to Claremore, Oklahoma, to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. She moved back to Coffeyville in 1998 and in 1999 moved to Medicalodge. In October, 2005, she went to live at Windsor Place. November, 1946, she married Burce Tovey in Miami, Oklahoma. They
orced in 1971. She worked at numerous jobs throughout the years, but her favorite jobs were being a grandmother, mother, and homemaker. Spending time with her family was always a priority; she loved being a part of their lives and taking part in family activities. Knitting was one of her favorite hobbies. Her daughter always had beautiful sweaters to wear to school. She, also, knitted sweaters for her grandson. Baking pies was another favorite hobby; she always enjoyed baking those delicious pies for her family. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church, Coffeyville, where she taught Sunday School, in the early 1960s. She is survived by her daughter and only child, Pam Jones; son-in-law, Bill Jones; and the love of her life and the apple of her eye, grandson, Ryan; one brother, Virgil Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lena was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and six sisters. A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2006, at the Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Pastor Brian Wells officiating. Mrs. Tovey will lie in state from 1-8:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church in Coffeyville.
