Mr. Leroy Fisher died at his home in rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma on Monday, November 3, 2008. Mr. Fisher was born on January 23, 1929, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Rose Knisley and Jim Fisher. He attended local schools and in 1952, he joined the Plumbers amp; Pipefitters Local Union in McAllen, Texas; later transferring to Local 339 of Coffeyville. He traveled extensively throughout the United States working as a pipefitter welder. On November 9, 1957, he married Darlene Penix in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They made their home in South Coffeyville for the past 40 years. Mr. Fisher was an avid quail hunter and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Survivors include: his wife Darlene of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bob Newhall of Joplin, Missouri, and a sister, Wanita Wilson of Coffeyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel of Coffeyville, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are given to Cornerstone Hospice of Bartlesville in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
