Lester Metzer

Lester Ray Metzer 1910-2005 Lester Ray Metzer, age 94, died Tuesday evening, May 17, 2005 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 27, 1910 in Girard, Kansas to Fred and Sarah Harper Metzer. He married Mae Machin March 2, 1930 in Girard, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 17, 1994. He was also preceded in death by one daughter Dorothy Schneider in 1998. Mr. Metzer completed two years of college. Lester worked for Continental Can Company, Funk Manufacturing and Bobs Conoco in Coffeyville. He was a member of Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas. Survivors include: 1 Son: Bob Metzer Coffeyville, Kansas 3 Daughters: Beverly Minniear Kansas City, Kansas Wilma Griswold Copan, Oklahoma Betty Vannoster Coffeyville, Kansas 9 Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren 6 Great Great Grandchildren A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005, at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Calling hours for Mr. Metzer will be from 1-8:00 p.m. Thursdsay at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Chapel.
