Linda E. Cain, 61, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Continuous Health Care in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born November 12, 1947 in Independence, Kansas to Wesley Otto Hull and Marie Elizabeth McDaniel Hull. Linda attended schools in Independence, graduating from High School in 1965. She attended Bethany Nazarene College now SNU and graduated from Pittsburg State College now PSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work in 1969. Linda was united in marriage on October 22, 1988 to Howard Lawrence Cain in Independence, Kansas. They made their home in the Montgomery County area. She worked as a social worker for persons receiving general assistance for the Sedgwick County Department of Welfare. When they separated services from the financial responsibilities of such cases, Linda went into the service unit. She then returned to Independence where she went to work for the Montgomery County Department of Social Welfare which later became Montgomery County Social and Rehabilitation Services, where she worked for twenty-five years. Due to program changes Linda began work for the Area Agency on Aging and later retired from her position at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center due to declining health in December of 2002. Linda is preceded in death by her grandparents and a step-daughter. Survivors include her husband Howard of the home, two step-daughters: Christine Larchez of Harrison, Aakansas and Patricia Chester of Alisa Viejo, California, stepsons: David Cain of Emporia, Kansas, Michael Cain of Wichita, Kansas and Steven Cain of Auburn, Kansas, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Linda E. Cain will be held at 10:00a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas with interment following at Harrisonville Cemetery, north of Tyro, Kansas. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8;00P.M. on Sunday, October 4. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
