Lloyd G. Drum, 75, of Independence, Ks, passed away Friday, August 4, 2006 at 4:55 a.m. at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born in Dewey, OK on March 23, 1931 to Albert and Myrtle Coke Drum. Lloyd attended Dewey High School and was a member of the 1947 Dewey State Championship football team. He played for one year at Coffeyville Community College under Coach Cliff Long. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 in Ft. Leonardwood, MO, where he was an instructor. He married Clauette LeClere on December 15, 1952. He was employed by Parkersburg Rig and Reel and Continental Can. He retired after 25 years from Sherwin Williams. After retirement, he worked for Coffeyville Community College for 11 years and then retired again. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Claudette of 53 years, two sons, Brent and Patricia Drum of Coffeyville and Kevin and Victoria Drum of Tampa, Fl.; one granddaughter, Brandy and Scott McFall and one grandson, Chris and Nikole Drum, both of Coffeyville. Three sisters, Achsah Kitchens of Bartlesville, Ok.; Shirley Brinkley of Collinsville, Ok.; Ruth Edgens of Coffeyville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Floyd Drum of Caney, Ks.; a grandson, Jason Alan Drum. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He also coached little league baseball and football for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coffeyville. Calling hours will be from 1 pm until 9pm on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 and from 8 am until 9 pm on Monday, Aug. 7, 2006. Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6pm until 8pm. At the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 at the Veterans Memorial Patio in the Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, Ks. Rev. Wayne Norton will be officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Local VFW Post 1022 Coffeyville, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimers Association.
