Lloyd Edward Thompson, 73, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at his home. Lloyd was born January 20, 1938 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Harry and Mary Clark Thompson. He grew up in the Liberty and Coffeyville area graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School. After high school he served in the Kansas National Guard. Lloyd worked as a foreman for 20 years for the City of Coffeyville Water Department. He owned and operated Thompson Backhoe and Hauling until his retirement in 2000. In January of 1987 he began his partnership with the love of his life, Eva Smith. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, scrapping precious metals, working, cutting wood, being outdoors and gardening. He enjoyed spending afternoons on the front porch or out in the garden with his best friend Glen Owens. Most of all he enjoyed time with his friends and family at his home. Lloyd is survived by his companion, Eva Smith of the home children, Lucinda Davenport and husband, Stan of Coffeyville, Rhonda Steib and husband, John of Pflugerville, TX, Terry Thompson of Coffeyville, Lloyd LeRoy Thompson and wife, Robin of Bartlesville, OK brothers, Floyd Thompson and wife, Marlene of Cherryvale, KS, Jackie Thompson of Altamont, KS, Roy Thompson and wife, Mary of Elk City, KS, Harold Thompson of Oklahoma City, OK sister Ada Dunn of Georgia Evas children, Joyce and Rocky Vaughn of Coffeyville, Anna and Curtis Mora of Tulsa, OK, Leroy and Dana Smith of Coffeyville, Randy Smith of Coffeyville seven grandchildren 3 greatgrandchildren and one greatgrandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary, and brother, Chester Thompson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Reverend Wayne Martin will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association. These may be left with the funeral home.
