Loneta (Lonnie) Hooper 88, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma died Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Montgomery Place in Independence, Ks.
Lonnie was born on March 22,1936 to Ralph and Lena Gay (Wison) Spillman in Coyville, Ks. She graduated from Coyville High School in 1953. Lonnie took college classes in bookkeeping, accounting and real estate.
On a hot July 4th in 1954, Loneta married the love of her life Alan J. Hooper. They were married in Coyville, Ks. on Lonnie’s family farm. They made their home in SEK for many years. The last 25 in South Coffeyville, Ok.
Lonnie and Alan spent their retirement years devoted to the town of South Coffeyville. Lonnie started the South Coffeyville Volunteer Library. She was a member of the city council and was mayor and wrote several grants for city improvements.
Lonnie was a member of the South Coffeyville Garden Club. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her Daughter-in-law Darcey Hooper, three grandchildren, Benjamin (Jeanie) Hooper, Mark Hooper and Kelli Hooper. Lonnie was preceded in death by her husband Alan J. Hooper, her sons, Michael Hooper and Phillip Hooper.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:00am at First Southern Baptist Church, 2701 W. 8th, Coffeyville, Ks with Pastor Matt Friese officiating.
